On the Other Side

Prannoy Roy is the man from Newstrack and has played a major role in the changing face of Indian news media. He has always shied away from the media, but with this interview by Anil Thakraney, Roy speaks out.

Here's another interview with him.

Too Much or Too Little?

SET MAX will be showing the blockbuster Devdas this week. And the channel is doing everything it can to publicise it.

A part of the promo scheme is to air the popular songs and poignant scenes from the movie regularly till the movie is finally broadcast. While this seems to be a good way to inform and persuade people to watch the movie (the main objective of advertising), somehow showing complete scenes and entire songs, and from time to time, is a bit too much.

Thanks to their promos, I have seen the songs from the movie quite a few times and I've already had enough of them. When Devdas finally hits the small screen, I'll probably switch to another channel. And in any case, the advertisements are going to be unbearable. Methinks the movie will last at least four and a half hours!
