A famous Pakistani university may ban several classics from its English syllabus- ranging from Alexander Pope's The Rape of the Lock, Ernest Hemingway's The Sun Also Rises, and Jonathan Swift's Gulliver's Travels, because they contain "offensive sexual connotations".

What next? Banning these books from the entire country?



Oh Boy!

Vikram Seth has just got 1.3 million pounds in advance for his upcoming memoirs about his great uncle. And five publishers bid for the book, without even reading the manuscript! Now that's something!

And a lesser-known writer from Mumbai (Bombay), Ashok Banker, has signed a Rs. 9.5 crore deal for a seven-part series on the Ramayana.

Will lesser-known writers finally start making money?
